My Internship: Safeway Address: 6310 College Ave, Oakland, CA 94618
Day 1: 5 hours My first day working I spent the whole day doing online training. I learned how to properly bag groceries. I learned many things employees weren't allowed.
Day 2: 4 hours On this day I started to bag groceries. I learned not to bag groceries to heavy or they would break. I also learned to sort groceries in the bag correctly for example all cold items would go in the same bags.
Day 3: 6 hours This day I bagged for most of the time but I also learned to get alcohol to people. To get the alcohol I would use a key to open up the cellar. I learned that I wasn't allowed to hand the alcohol to customers directly I had give it to the checkers first. I also wasn't allowed to leave the alcohol out in the open.
Day 4: 6 hours This I started with bagging. I was closing this day so I had to do go-backs. Since I wasn't familiar with the whole store it took me a long time to complete the go backs. Once I was done I had to bring all of the carts into the store. I also had to sanitize all of the check stands.
One of the things that I learned during this time was the importance of working efficiently for a more efficient workload for the whole team. This job has also taught a little about the importance of staying calm and collected during stressful situations. My first few days were a little hard but thanks to my co employees I able to get through it.
